About Me

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 | Be alert, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong. Your every action must be done with love.

Dear reader: You and I live in a world that's okay with love. It doesn't mind love. But the love that the world tolerates is often a love that is lacking in the four accompanying attributes in the preceding passage: alertness, firmness, manliness, and strength. Men of this world are not encouraged to be alert; they are immersed in a culture of spiritual laziness, in the lust of the eyes and of the flesh. Men of this world are not encouraged to be firm and immovable when it comes to the faith; they are pressured to tolerate unsound doctrine so as not to offend others. Men are not encouraged to be manly or strong; but rather urged to seek instant gratification for the fulfillment of their own desires.

My name is Josiah Driver. I am a wretched sinner saved by grace and upheld by the same. My hope is that as you read this blog, the love of Christ will shine through my words as Christ would have His love shine though a man He has chosen as His own. This blog is a collection of evangelical Mennonite writings from one "still a youth" (2 Chronicles 34:3) to speak up in a world that has filtered the alertness, the firmness, the manliness, and the strength out of biblical love.

Just a few theological distinctives in case you're interested:

I would consider myself a conservative, non-resistant Mennonite in doctrine. I believe the Bible to be God-breathed; the inerrant, inspired Word of God. I am Arminian. Complimentarian: I believe man is the head of woman just as the Father is the head of the Son. I believe marriage is only recognized by God as that between one man and one woman. And I believe Jesus Christ to be the only Way to salvation (please, please see the most important post I will ever write on this entire blog).

I would like to encourage you once again with these words: Be alert. Stand firm in the faith. Act like a man. Be strong.

Your every action must be done in love.
